SHOP THE LOOK: Movie Room

Image
We wanted to change it up for today's Moodboard Monday, and although it's not something everyone has the space for, we can all use a little Movie Time in our lives!

(Blush!) Pink Closet Door Transformation!

Image
This is just your reminder that: 1) There is no such thing as too much attention to detail in a space, and...  2) You ARE capable of trying something new yourself! πŸ™ŒπŸ» For this cute closet door makeover, I used: ✨ A simple stencil with some small sponges and black creme paint, all from Amazon (head to the link in our profile and click on SHOP THE LOOK to snag them all for yourself). ✨ I painted just the bottom panel in the same color as the ceiling, and topped off with a satin poly to set it (both with a foam roller). What I learned: ✔️ Buy a LOT of sponges, because you go through them quickly and rinsing between is not ideal. ✔️ Switch off between the areas if possible so the paint can dry before continuing the design. Tap, don't rub the stencil paint, and less is more when it comes to paint. ✔️ For the bottom panel, invest in a good painter's tape to make sure the lines are perfect. I need to work out my arms a lot more because they got so T-I-R-E-D doing the stencil! πŸ’ͺ🏻

Did you know neutral colors can be difficult to work with?

Image
Contrary to popular belief, neutral colors are some of the most difficult to work with when it comes to paint.  Why?  Because even THEY have undertones that always need to be considered, and they can show very differently dependent on a ton of factors! 🀯 For this house, we wanted a deep neutral brown for all the trim.  Normally, Sherwin Williams Deep Forest Brown would be a great contender. But because of the direction this house faces, it just looked way too purple! πŸ˜… We tried a few more colors, but in the end decided on a warm black, because it had the exact bold pop we were wanting! πŸ–€ Remember, it is SO important to always try a swatch (or better yet, get a Samplize peel and stick sample that you can move around), because what may look good on one home may look totally different on another! 🏠

Exterior Paint Facelift!

Image
We absolutely love working with paint, and that doesn't always mean the INSIDE of homes. Many times that includes helping people give their exteriors a major facelift! 🏑 For this home, we brightened up main body color, and gave the trim a total pop with that deep espresso. Not only did that freshen it up completely, but it also totally tied in the Spanish-style roof and details! 🀩 Scroll all the way down to see what it looked like before...πŸ‘€

Fun Garage Makeover

Image
Make every space yours, even if it's simply something small that will brighten your day! ✨ This Target garage space makeover helped to not only organize shoes, backpacks, shopping bags and paper goods for our busy family, but it honestly just makes me smile every time I leave the house. 😌 And yes, we have a LOT of board games (those are just the overflow from our big game shelf inside the house!) 🀣 Every single item from this mini garage facelift came from Target, including the storage cubbies, the cute oversized hooks, and yes...that wallpaper! 😍 I know, I know... It's a little more "out there" than anything I would usually use in my own house, which is exactly why I thought the garage would be the perfect space for it.  Because quite honestly, I LOVE IT!

Happy Trees Lodge Airbnb Cozy Cabin Kitchen

Image
This kitchen is one that we have been excited to share for a very long time! 😍😍😍 This was a challenging (in the best way possible!) kitchen in that, we wanted to keep the cozy cabin feel for this @happytreeslodge airbnb. 🐻 First thing first, we knew we absolutely 100% had to keep that amazing wood bar-top....which was so unique to the space!   However, new countertops and backsplash were a must, as well as painting and brightening up all the cabinets!  We topped them off with brass hardware to add in some more warmth, and of course painted all the walls and ceilings. This all took a ton of visual weight out of the space, and made it look and feel much more airy and modern! What do you think? πŸ’ƒ Anything you would have done differently? πŸ€”

A Dream Pantry...

Image
This transformation is a special one, because this was a complete blank slate of a space when we started.  Swipe to see what this started as! πŸ‘€ This space off a kitchen would traditionally serve as a dining room or second eating nook, but that just simply wasn't needed here (as there is a dining area right on the other side of the kitchen).  This busy family needed more functional storage, seating and....on their dream list, A PANTRY! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ We got to work designing the perfect space for them, and it's finally finished! 😍 And the best part is receiving this text upon completion: "We could not be more absolutely in love with the space, omg, I’ll just keep gushing. It’s perfection, every square inch!!" Thank you so much for trusting me with your space! 🀍 Scroll all the way down for what this space looked like before!

Lounge Redesign with the Help of Virtual Design!

Image
Although I don't think we ever had the chance to share the finished product, this lounge was an empty room when we first saw it. 😯 With the help of virtual designs to be able to envision the finished product, we were able to create a fun and inviting space for this busy family to enjoy some great conversations, games and most importantly, each other! 😍  The empty space: Virtual Design Process:

Family Room Transformation! Why scale is SO important

Image
Any time we are working on a decor or design project, one very important aspect we ALWAYS have to consider is scale. πŸ€”  With what we do, scale essentially refers to how an item relates to the size of the room. πŸ“ There are a lot of tricks and tactics to make said item have more or less visual weight, but even as professionals, sometimes we can even get it wrong without proper planning! πŸ™‹‍♀️ I need to fess up...although this family room is now just how we want it, I made a big blunder with the first electric fireplace I brought in!  🀦‍♀️ Although I knew it was on the smaller side (which was probably my main concern with it), I really thought I could make it work!  But, after a few months I just knew I had gotten it wrong, so we decided to move that beautiful smaller fireplace to a new room and try again! Obviously it was not ideal to have to purchase a new fireplace, but it actually added much-needed heat elsewhere in the house, and the new unit is the absolute perfect size now for t

Dining Room Makeover - The difference that paint can make!

Image
#flashblackfriday to this insane dining room makeover! 😍😍 We have done A LOT of revamps, but this is probably our favorite one that demonstrates what a HUGE difference paint can make!  Although we also added new flooring, lighting, furnishings, it still is hard to believe this is the same room!  Before...

Happy Trees Lodge Airbnb

Image
And just like that…this @HappyTreesLodge cabin primary bedroom is D-O-N-E!! 😍😍 We changed up all finishes from ceiling to floor — without having to pay a pretty penny to modify the layout. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ For the dΓ©cor portion, every element, from that wallpaper to the corner art easel, was thoughtfully considered and included in the design to achieve this overall look. I'd say we are pretty happy with how it all turned out! The before....
